Ryan Wright, MA, DTLLP

My therapeutic work with clients is centered around the cultivation of presence, attunement, and relational depth. By aspiring to generate these conditions within the therapeutic encounter, clients can feel heard, seen, and empowered to move towards self-enhancing ways of being. Philosophically, my work is grounded in an existential-humanistic integrative approach aimed at helping clients develop a deeper awareness and habits that align with their values and personal goals. I believe that in chaos there is an opportunity to reconstruct new ways of thinking, feeling, and behaving to overcome the challenges of living. By attending to salient factors of the client’s identity and culture, therapy can be tailored to fit each person’s concern.

I have previous experience in community mental health, having served a myriad of clients seeking assistance with mood disorders, trauma, homelessness, substance abuse, and vocational concerns. I have also worked in the school systems and provided support to adolescents and children with intellectual and behavioral challenges. I have experience working with adults and adolescents suffering from mood disorders, relational and interpersonal distress, grief and loss, and post-traumatic stress disorder.

I have my master’s degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of the District of Columbia, and I am currently a second-year doctoral student in counseling psychology at Western Michigan University. I am a doctoral temporary limited licensed psychologist (DTLLP) in the state of Michigan, which allows me to diagnose and treat mental health disorders. As a DTLLP, I am under the direct supervision of Dr. Julie Meredith Davis at Meredith Psychological & Testing Services.
