I believe that no matter what degree of incongruence someone finds themselves in when they start therapy, they are inherently growth-striving and capable of change. In therapy, I value collaborating with clients to help them decide how to create actionable change in their lives while increasing their comfort with themselves and relating to others. I am primarily guided by humanistic, psychodynamic, interpersonal processes, and relational-cultural approaches, but I will seek to tailor my treatment approach to fit clients’ individual needs. I value individuality, mutual respect, cultural diversity, and open communication. In this manner, I strive to cultivate a therapeutic relationship with my clients wherein they feel valued for who they are without condition, wherein their lived experiences are deeply understood and met with compassion, and wherein they are able to develop an authentic relationship with me as their therapist.
I am currently enrolled in Western Michigan University’s Counseling Psychology doctoral program. As such, I am a Doctoral Temporary Limited License Psychologist (DTLLP) in the state of Michigan. As a DTLLP, I receive ongoing supervision from a fully licensed psychologist, Julie Meredith Davis, Ph.D., LP.
