Hawi believes that when people are shown empathy, genuineness, and unconditional positive regard, they are more likely to accept and actively participate in the therapeutic process. This is why Hawi creates a safe and welcoming environment wherein she and her clients can collaboratively discuss and work toward established goals. Hawi recognizes that, for many, present actions are driven by past experiences and because of this, Hawi works hard to help her clients gain self-awareness of the past.
Hawi earned her Master’s in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University (WMU) and is currently enrolled in WMU’s Counseling Psychology doctoral program. Hawi has over 10 years of working with people across the lifespan in a variety of settings. Her most recent experience has been with children from racially and ethnically diverse populations. Hawi’s specialty areas include immigration & acculturation stress, anxiety, depression, transitions, and relationship issues. Hawi’s private practice includes work with individuals, children, adolescents, and ethnically diverse groups.
Hawi is a Temporary Master’s Limited Psychologist (TMLP) in the state of Michigan. As a TMLP, Hawi receives ongoing supervision from a fully licensed psychologist, Julie Meredith Davis, Ph.D., LP.
