Jessica Asperger, Intern (Wyoming)

There is no doubt that connections and relationships are a fundamental part of the human experience. This is why Jess aims to develop a trusting and collaborative alliance with her clients above all else. In this focus, she hopes to create an environment free of judgement and a safe space to explore the many factors that can contribute to life’s various struggles. Jess believes it is important to individualize and tailor therapy to fit the clients, as they are best able to discern what techniques and strategies are beneficial to them. Jess also likes to incorporate techniques of mindfulness and meditation into her practice in order to help the client gain insight on their inner self.

Jess is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in counseling psychology at Western Michigan University. She further works with clients dealing with issues such as depression, anxiety, grief/loss, behavioral concerns, and relational issues. Jess also works with adolescents, adults clients from a myriad of racial and ethnic backgrounds but has focused experience working with Black, Native American, and Asian clients striving to work through race-related stress and racial-identity concerns. Jacques also works with sexual identity and gender identity concerns (e.g., trans, questioning, gender non-confirming). Overall, Jacques recognizes that our experiences are intricately connected with our mental health and successful daily functioning; as such, he approaches therapy through a multicultural lens, understanding that culture is a complex reality comprised of the intersectionality of factors such as race/ethnicity, family, education, gender, age, and education.
