Daniel M. Tuinstra, MD is passionate about providing individualized, comprehensive, culturally competent, and high-quality health care to a wide variety of individuals. His experience providing psychiatric and psychotherapy services spans inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, residential, and child and adolescent programs. Dr Tuinstra is a published psychiatric researcher and has experience with neuromodulation. He has had the opportunity to work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds including various religious, racial, ethnic, gender identity, and sexual orientation backgrounds. He has also completed studies in psychology, family studies, and biomedical sciences.
Dr. Tuinstra’s clinical approach involves a patient-centered, thorough psychiatric evaluation. He takes a collaborative approach with patients and provides education to ensure patients are making informed decisions about their mental health medication management. Dr. Tuinstra also understands the importance of a holistic approach to mental health concerns and values the use of psychotherapy in conjunction with medication management as appropriate.
Dr. Tuinstra specializes in psychiatry with a sub-specialty in addiction psychiatry. He completed his medical degree at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine in 2018 and will complete his psychiatric residency in 2022 at Pine Rest CMHS/Michigan State University CHM. He will complete an Addiction Psychiatry fellowship in 2023.
At Meredith Psychological and Testing Services, Dr. Tuinstra provides psychiatric evaluations and medication management appointments to current psychotherapy patients.
